Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Got Married 10 Years Ago
Dreams do come true — well, for five and a half years in the case of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who got married 10 years ago today. Their fairy-tale wedding came two years after Holmes famously revealed to Seventeen magazine in 2004 that when she was little, she “used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise,” and in 2005 after Cruise memorably jumped on Oprah Winfrey’s couch while declaring his love for the actress.
The couple, who are the parents of daughter Suri, 10, ultimately got divorced in June 2012, but their wedding is truly one to remember.
The Dawson’s Creek alum, 37, and Mission Impossible hunk, 54, tied the knot on November 18, 2006, in a lavish Italian wedding. Inside Italy’s 15th-century Odescalchi Castle known as Bracciano, the duo shared their vows before a star-studded guest list that included the likes of Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cruise’s Scientologist pals John Travolta and Kelly Preston, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. Former Scientologist Leah Remini was also in attendance.
The nuptials reportedly cost the A-list pair a cool $3 million, People reported at the time. Not to mention, Holmes wore two custom gowns by Giorgio Armani — including one strapless lace number that was covered with thousands of Swarovski crystals that reportedly took 350 hours to place.
With Cruise’s older kids — Isabella and Connor with ex-wife Nicole Kidman — in attendance, the duo made it official before Scientology leader David Miscavige, who helped carry out Scientology’s “double ring” ceremony tradition. Guests were serenaded by Andrea Bocelli and wowed by fireworks after the couple cut into their five-tier cake.
After the stunning ceremony, Holmes and Cruise spent their honeymoon vacationing in the Maldives.

Although their marriage ended in divorce, Holmes, who is now dating Jamie Foxx, doesn’t regret a thing.
“I really enjoy my life,” she told Ocean Drive in 2015. “I don’t really regret anything that I’ve done. I’ve learned from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going.”
