Real Reason Why AEW Collision Changed Timeslots On 10/7 (Exclusive)

Publish date: 2024-06-03

Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision aired at 7 PM EST on TNT instead of its normal 8 PM slot. The reason for the shift actually has nothing to do with the WWE Fastlane premium live event.

It was announced on Wednesday that AEW Collision would air an hour early on October 7. Following this announcement, many people assumed it was due to trying to avoid heavy competition with WWE’s premium live event Fastlane. But that’s not the case.

In asking around, sources have informed us that TNT was contractually required to air the MLB Playoff game between Arizona and Los Angeles on the off chance that the game between Philadelphia and Atlanta ran long on TBS. That potential airing was scheduled for 9:20 PM EST. This would have been smack dab in the middle of Collision’s normal timeslot.

So, with the chance that the Braves and the Phillies went to extra innings, it would have been enough to move AEW Collision off its normal timeslot.

The move ultimately was not necessary. The Phillies shut out the Braves 3-0 in regulation, but it’s better safe than sorry.
