Dan Sackett Obituary, Death – Rhinelander was the location where he was born on July 16th, 1951. Bernard Sackett and Lela (Basch) Sackett were his parents. He was named after his mother. It was in the year 1969 when Dan graduated from Rhinelander High School with his high school diploma. In 1971, he joined the United States Army, where he remained until 1974.

This marked the beginning of his duty to his country through the United States Army. After he had returned to Rhinelander, he was able to secure a position in the paper mill. Between the years 1977 and 1994, Dan served his country in the United States Navy, when he enlisted. He was a member of the Navy from 1977 to 1994. Over the course of this time period, he was assigned a duty aboard the United States Navy submarine Stonewall Jackson.

He retired from the military after having served his country with distinction for more than twenty years, during which time he had acquired the rank of Senior Chief. Following his retirement from the Navy, Dan relocated to Rhinelander, where he once again found employment at the paper mill. This occurred in the years that followed his retirement.

During his time with the Rhinelander Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was a member of the Ray Rousseau Post #3143 association. Dan used to enjoy playing pool and was a member of a league that played the game. Aside from that, he enjoyed playing pool. Getting behind the wheel of his Harley and Boss Hoss motorcycles was a source of immense pleasure for him.

Surviving are his children; Theresia “Terry” (Vaughn) Bouslog of Decatur, Illinois, and Timothy “T.J.” Sackett of Shellbyville, Illinois, three grandchildren; Candace Bly, Timmy Bly and Braiden Sackett, one great-granddaughter; Arianna Hott, four step-children; Wade Modrow of Nome, Alaska, Wendi (Kevin) Bixby of Rhinelander, Adam (Jessica) Modrow of Union Grove, Wisconsin and Amy (Jared) Harris of Racine, Wisconsin and eight step-grandchildren; Alec, Isaac and Abigail Bixby, Conner, Allison and Lillian Modrow and Hunter and Scarlett Harris.

Among the remaining members of the Sackett family are one brother, Joe Sackett, who is married to Jan, and two sisters, Nancy Blumreich and Diane Koshak, who both live in Rhinelander. Joe Sackett is the only brother in the Sackett family. Dan’s nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and acquaintances, are also considered to be members of his family and friends.
